Becky Benfield-Humberstone

Hello! I’m Becky.

Part Detective, part superhero and all-round word wizard, I’m here to make your life easier by writing compelling, authentic copy that captivates your ideal clients and converts them into long-term customers.

Forget staring at a screen for hours wondering what words to write. Born with a pen in my hand and business in my blood, I’m here to write for you so you can sip coffee and do the thing I can’t do. Being you.

I help individuals and businesses who want to blaze their own trail and magnetise their ideal clients by simply being themselves. I turn you, and your passion, into words. Words your customers can’t resist. Like a lighthouse shining through the sea of noise, you’re the beacon to your clients, attracting them through the power of the written word and the beam of information those mighty collection of letters conveys.

I adore transforming your brands secret ingredients into words, stories and content that generates long-term customer relationships that results in sales to grow and your reputation to flourish. And all through harnessing the right words for your brand.

Cheerleader. Advocate. Pathfinder.

As a child, I wanted to be a superhero. Whilst I don’t have the Lycra, I do have superhero powers of helping businesses showcase their brilliance and the polymath toolkit to make it happen. No Spandex costume required.

I’m the wordsmith in your corner cheering you on, equipping you with the words to tell the world about your business and helping you to find the way forward, to smash your goals. More clients? Sure thing. Better customer connections? Definitely. World domination? Sure, why not? And done completely organically and holistically. Unquestionably.

My expertise and experience stem from years (and years and years) of owning businesses, building them from the ground up into international powerhouses in their respective industries, with global customer bases and seven figure turnovers.

I’ve learnt branding, copywriting, and business essentials the hard way, through perseverance and failures, each time dusting myself off and going back for more. I’ve honed my skills writing copy and content for niche customer bases where the wrong word wouldn’t do. I now use my skills to help people like you.

Never content to simply wear one hat (like a true entrepreneur!) I’m also a writer, with my first book published in 2020. Santa’s Spitfire Christmas, published by the Imperial War Museum (2021), tells the tale of how a snowy Christmas Eve when Santa was delivering the last few presents to the good boys and girls of the world, he heard his reindeer sneeze. Forced to land with his reindeer unwell, Santa needed a plan to save Christmas. And what should he find? Could an unlikely hero save the day? I won’t spoil the finale for you, but I do like happy endings.

10 Weird and Wonderful Facts about Becky:

  • I’m old school (which is the coolest kind of school), writing everything long-hand on paper with a fountain pen before typing it up on my trusty iMac. You’ll find me working anywhere and everywhere, never being without my pen sidekick and notebook.

  • I live in the rural Essex countryside, in the UK, with my 11-year-old daughter who is also a writer. She cunningly has convinced me to illustrate her story, which is rapidly turning into a 12-part series (cue frantically searching for the paintbrushes).

  • I’ve got a serious notebook habit (one is never enough!) and are a serial collector of books in need of a home. If they are vintage books (over 100 years old), that’s a real weakness. I feel sorry for them, so they come home with me, no questions asked to be added to my mini library and cared for. My library is the retirement home for old books.

  • I write to film soundtracks or classical music, and even go so far to confess that I have different albums for different styles of writing. For first drafts, anything by Hans Zimmer or James Newton Howard is just what I need to get the words onto paper. Editing and finessing, scores by Henry Jackson, Alan Silvestri and Daniel Pemberton.

  • My superpower is seeing the story in everything, from the way you sign your emails or enrol clients to your values and reason for your business existing, there is a story and reason in everything. The bonus of this somewhat unique superpower is that waiting in line at the supermarket is never boring. I see it as a full-blown drama series, sometimes with comedic or thriller-est moments! (They are doing what with that watermelon?!)

  • I’m a big comic book fan (Marvel if I’m being specific) and would happily join the Avengers if they asked me (although on second thoughts I don’t have a cool costume. Yet.)

  • I love anything with adventure and extreme in the description. You’ll find me at the front of the queue to jump out of a plane or slide down an ice course on a tea tray (skeleton bobsledding. It was amazing! I want to go again).

  • I adore food, being a foodie and passionate cook. On most days, you’ll find me in the kitchen, with the radio on (accompanied by terrible dancing) whipping up homemade prawn Gyozas or creating a Katsu Curry. I also make a mean Sticky Toffee Pudding, complete with toffee sauce (is it lunchtime yet?).

  • I’ve been in the world of business all my working life, leaving school at 16 to start my own business, Utterly Horses, a niche sector business selling model horses and equine themed gifts to customers all over the globe. Utterly Horses was the largest model horse stockist (yes, it’s a thing) in Europe, with a product range of over 2,500 items that retailed to a customer base of over 50,000 people and corporate clients. Movie launches, high profile clients, exhibitions all over the world. We did it all.

  • I created the first British brand of 1:9th Model Horses (strange but true). Utterly Horses evolved into Copperfox Model Horses, a business that manufactured and retailed models of British breeds of horses, to a worldwide audience. Copperfox Models were crafted from plastic and then painted intricately by hand, using the skills of painters at our factory in China. I stepped away from the world of Model Horses in 2018, seeking a new challenge, with Copperfox Model Horses being re-homed with new owners who are currently writing the next chapters of its story.
